At South by Southwest, there was a contest to make the best homage to Surprised Kitty viral video. I am happy to announce that I was one of the winners and I won a bunch of cool stuff. An OK Go flipbook, two seasons of Ted Talks, and best of all, YouTube Socks. Get it? YouTube socks. Man, Google deserves their billions. They are clever.
Openspace has me featured this week in its member spotlight. Do I really talk like this?
“The videos are getting crazy traction. There is a live component to it. I want it to be interesting. Engage the audience. Something measurable. We are turning traditional advertising on its head. This is the future of marketing.”
Also, those of you brave enough to click through can see me in my glory days as the drummer for AA Bottom, a ZZ Top coverband.

From Billy: “Recently I had the opportunity to collaborate on a promotional video for the Live Arts Gala. I think it came out really well, and really appreciate the experience of working with such smart, creative people. Serena Gruia, Matt Thomas, Hilty Hazzard, Jessica Priest, Wistar Murray, Zach Snider, Karen Thomas, Brian Wimer, and Wes Webb all helped.
We ended up doing a stop action movie, without stopping the action. I put my camera on a tripod with the motordrive taking tons of still images, and all the puppeteers moved everything around in the studio. Later we cropped, color corrected, and sized down, and assembled more then 600, 22 megapixel images to match the storyboard. Why do it this way? Because we are bananas!”
